Imperial Bi Luo Chun & Ju Pu Tea [Bundle of 2]

Dong Ding (冻顶), "Frozen Summit" or "Icy Peak", gets its unique name from when tea farmers had to tiptoes in rainy weather through slippery pathways, while climbing the hilltop to pick tea leaves. This is how “Dong Ding”, a mountain in Taiwan got its name. 

“Dong Ding” has a robust flavor with notes of roasted barley, caramel and baked plum; followed by a unique lingering sweetness, known as 回甘 "hui gan".

Dong Ding Oolong Tea

Legend has it that two-hundred years ago, a tea farmer stumbled upon a metal Guan Yin statue in a neglected state, and vowed to restore it to its former glory. As a reward, Guan Yin appeared in his dream one night, and handed him a leaf which was perfumed with the scent of her lotus flower. 

Tie Guan Yin is balanced and full, carrying with it a sweet floral hint and long-lasting velvety finish.

Glutinous Rice Pu’er Tea

In the year 1855, a man named Linfengchi took a few oolong tea trees with him from the Wuyi Mountains in China and traveled to Dong Ding, in Lugu, Taiwan. He replanted the tea trees, beginning the history of Dong Ding Oolong, one of Taiwan’s most famous teas.
 
“桂花” is the Chinese name for the fragrant osmanthus flower, which blossoms in the Phoenix Mountain area during tea season and is used in scenting this oolong.

 This sweet osmanthus flower blended well with the the nutty flavor tea leaves.

Osmanthus Oolong Tea

In the 1920s, a tea farmer took these leftovers green tea leaves and tried roasting them over charcoal. And so, Hojicha was invented. These roasted tea leaves spread all over Japan, as it is a wonderful way of using the whole plant with no wastage.
