It originated in the Wuyi Mountains during the Qing dynasty, although there are earlier examples of smoked teas. The Fukienese word 'Souchong' literally means 'little variety'. It is known as Huāxiāng (花香), meaning flower aroma in Chinese. Some call this the origin of red tea, or black as it's known in the west.

It has a delicate floral aroma and refreshing. Mellow note with a lasting sweet aftertaste.
